Los Cago Open House Bridge of Artistic Goodwill LCOHBAG will be a meeting of artistic minds with the intention of bridging the geographic gap between Los Angeles and Chicago carried out by InCUBATE’s March resident, Michael Bauer. This project will consist of opening the doors to InCUBATE, in the form of an open house 7-10pm Wednesdays and Thursdays during the month of March 2008. This project will operate somewhere between a sales-pitch, motivational speaking engagement, performance, think tank, salon, and a series of discussions regarding dreaming, mind expansion, art production, the role of the artist and the prospects of forging unconventional alliances. Hopefully this gathering can help us challenge conventions of artistic time and space. The ultimate goal is to materialize one specific project which with take place in Los Angeles at the Confederacy of Creative Ephemera, featuring Chicago and Los Angeles based artists.

InCUBATE is accepting proposals for this month’s Sunday Soup Grant.  It’s really easy, you should apply!

Need some fast cash to make that project you’ve been putting off for months actually happen? Need some money to host an amazing dinner party for your friends? Will $200 help you pay rent so you can actually spend time on your projects? Whatever it is, feel free to apply for some FUNds!

Here’s how it works.  The application is simply your name and a short description of how you propose to use the grant:

Sunday Soup Granting Program

Soup grants provide funding for small to medium sized projects. The grants are completely unrestrisricted and will be awarded at the discretion of the jury of Sunday Soup Subscribers.

Applications are accepted on a rolling basis. At the end of each month, grant applications and proposals are collected and distributed via e-mail to the Sunday Soup subscribers. Each subscriber then casts one vote as to which project they would like to fund.

The application with the most support will be awarded the Sunday Soup Grant the first week of the following month. (i.e. applications collect in November will be awarded the first week in December.)

The amount of the grants are equal to the entire Soup Fund for that particular month.

Last Friday marked the opening of the second iteration of OTHER OPTIONS, a traveling/evolving exhibition organized by InCUBATE, hosted by (106) Gallery in Grand Rapids, MI.

The exhibition includes new work by Civic Studio, Forays, Material Exchange, and Phil Orr and Ryan Thompson

The exhibition will be in the gallery until Feb. 15 and will conclude with (Re)sale Auction at the closing reception Feb. 15 at 7 PM.

Check out InCUBATE TV and watch the first episode — a conversation with the Beehive Collective.Through InCUBATE TV we will be documenting our ongoing projects as well as conducting informal discussions with artists, curators, organizers, and collectives.
